Someone asked me about Radar: what unit is best.
I asked around on the web. A really good response over at Allcoast. Just hit the link and your there Radar descussion at Allcaost

Heres a good one.:
"In my experience, Furuno is more reliable than Raytheon. Both are equally user friendly/unfriendly.
As with fishfinders, the more power the better, but 2kw (or probably even 1.5kw) are sufficient from a basic safety perspective. Below that, it may not reliably and sufficiently penetrate heavy fog or rain. Above that and you can see smaller targets - even birds........The reliability of a Furuno really can't be beat."

or this one:
"Furuno has a new LCD unit out. The 1622 has a light gray background with black targets. I am running the 1621 2kw unit and have been very happy with it. I can pick up things as small as the 5MPH bouys, groups of small Terns flying and porpoise jumping at a 1/2 mile."
Sound good here's a link to Furino Radars"

Good luck on your choice....

Tight lines Jim
