I found this at Peter Pukala's message board (ya I'll soon add it!) Turns out Melton the big catalog company "may" be selling knock offs of those pricey Black Bart lures. I've always liked the looks of those things but there a little steep for me. Here's what Bart has to say:

Aloha sportsmen,
I am very pleased to read that some one cares enough
to call a spade a spade. It is a fact that knock offs
are being sold as original Black Bart Lures, some going
as far as to forge my signature on back of lure, as well as using product name. I am holding evidence to
this claim at my lawyers office, as well as sales receipts from where they were purchased. Beacause there is a lawsuit pending I cannot confirm or deny any fact that Tracy Melton has copied the lures, but I do have substantial evidence and a strong opinion that such acts have occured. Recently I e-mailed Tracy and
told him that I will pursue my legal complaints against
him to the ends of the earth and back. He phoned me and
wanted to know why we cant do any further business together? My reply ( What part of to the ends of the
earth and back is it that you dont seem to understand?)
Tracy continues to use my name in his catalog, showing
my lure Brasilliano and several others , tuna candy,
He claims he got them from me,--- He can claim anything
he wants! enough said. except for a few freaks, we
lure makers and lovers of the sea have always managed
to do our own things, With out the need of a lawyer,
or anyone to police us. ( Warning watch out for the
profit off of others creativity,greed grubs.) I now have a magnetic tape signature which can be scanned
for authenticity. This is not about copying a lure,
this is about fraud, forgery , and useing someones
name and history for your own personal profit, where by
you keep all the marbles ! After all that being said I have some great new lures named, Sprocket, mouse, cockroach, and lumo. Just kidding , thanks Peter and

Hmmmmmmm...... I order a thing form Meltons now and agin Shure makes you think.
