Got bait the night before, dines. Headed out of shelter island at 5:00am. Started trolling at the nine mile bank, with no success. Water was cooold(got as low as 61 degrees!). Trollled all the way to the 425 spot. A little south of the 425 spot we got a jigstrike on the cedar plug fished long. Turned out to be a 19lb albie. Bled the fish on the gaff, and within minutes we had blue sharks all around the boat. I dont know how Jim Morris can get totally skunked. we only had blood in the water for a couple of minutes. Anyways, we got another 20lb albie on bait, and then we trolled all the way to the coronados to anchor for the night behind south island. Tried bait and iron but only got a dozen jack mackerel on the sabiki rig. woke up to find our bait dead. Trolled home on the nine mile bank for nothing. Total score:2 albies, 9 or 10 30lb blue sharks. We also saw a HUGE ocean sunfish(200-300 lbs)!
