SHARK WEEK RETURNS AUGUST 8-15,
FEATURING > 5 PREMIERES AND THE
FIRST-EVER *LIVE* "SHARK WEEK"
BROADCAST

-- Two-hour "Live From a Shark Cage" to be
broadcast Aug. 8 live from Bikini Atoll, post-World
War II U.S. nuclear testing site --
*******************************************************

It's not summer without SHARK WEEK, and this year the
Discovery Channel is offering viewers the ultimate SHARK
WEEK experience -- a two-hour, live broadcast. The
program, "Live From a Shark Cage," kicks off SHARK
WEEK from Sun., August 8 to Sun., August 15 (see
schedule for exact times).

Last year, more than 25 million people tuned in to
SHARK WEEK, Discovery's most popular
programming event. This year's event features seven
shark programs -- five premieres -- that present the
latest scientific information about shark behavior, and
provide a well-rounded view of the diverse species
of sharks.

Hosted by correspondent Forrest Sawyer, the kickoff
program, "Live From a Shark Cage," will take viewers
into the warm, blue Pacific waters of Bikini Atoll, the
site of devastating nuclear testing in the 1940s and 50s.
There, pioneering film producer, director and underwater
cinematographer Al Giddings (Titanic, The Abyss) will utilize
the latest filming and diving technologies to provide a
remarkable you-are-there viewpoint as he dives real-time
with tiger sharks, oceanic white-tips and the territorial
grey reef shark. Additional experts will be on hand to
explain the sharks' behavior and biology, and historical
background about Bikini.

"Live From a Shark Cage" will broadcast Sunday, August 8,
from 9-11 PM (ET) and 11 PM - 1 AM (ET). It will air live in
Pacific Time from 6-8 PM and 8-10 PM.

Additionally, Discovery Channel Online (www.discovery.com)
will feature daily dispatches from the dive, beginning July 31.
