Hi Jim,

I am a diver and fisherman and I read your article and applaud you for
it! What I witnessed in Hawaii (Kona) was the killing of every single
bill fish caught on charter boats. The captains use as an excuse that it
costs a lot to live in Hawaii therefore they must kill and sell the fish
to feed their families. For this reason, I did not fish while I was
there. My take on this is that it is easier to sell a charter at a
reduced rate with the agreement that the boat keeps the meat than it would
be if the rates were similar to charters elsewhere in the world. They
will eventually learn that they cannot have their cake and eat it
too...let's see how difficult it is to book a charter when there are no
more bill fish left to be caught. Well let me step down from my soap box
and once again thank you for writing such an important article!
Regards,
Robert Darmanin

Thanks James, we've gotten a ton of responses from your efforts and I've
been forwarding them to the editor Ty Sawyer so he can read them too.
