Hi James - did you ever go and look at the article on finning that was in
the saltwater sportsman?
I posted about it SEVERAL times.

It's in the august issue of saltwater sportsman. I picked the magazine up
thinking i was goign to have a nice
big bitchfest about them fishing for sharks but that wasn't what the cover
story was about at all. . They do
talk about fishing for black tips nad catching them but they also stressed
the importance of using circle
hooks so they don't end up hooking the sharks in the stomach and they talk
about the importance of letting the sharks go when they are done.

I realize that fishing for the sharks stresses them but If it keeps the
sportsmen happy to p ull them in then cut the sharks loose then i'm happy
because it means that's one less sportsman o ut th ere fishing for the kill.

if you want then sometime this weekend i'll try to type the article up and
put it into an email for you.

They had a very provocative layout as well.

I liked that double whammy in the month of august that hit hawaii.

Ellen Scott has very kindly linked the above URL at her site for
Ecotourism:

I am hoping that Melissa Rodriguez (http://www.scuba.miningco.com)

Also, the "The Aquanauts" television series should be interesting
to watch as it is all about diving and was shot at various venues around
the world. It has an environmenta and trendyl theme to it as well which
should be beneficial with regard to attracting more people into the sport of
scuba diving... "The Aquanauts" makes its debut
on Discovery's Animal Planet channel in a few weeks
(on September 27th) at 7:30 PM and repeating again at 2:30 AM the next
morning, but check your local television listing to confirm broadcast time.

The first episode (on September 27th) includes a segment on great white
shark diving off South Africa (there are going to be segments-in future
episodes-which were shot off Hawaii as well):

Best regards,

Jim Morris
