Our family is a bit more "centrally located" ...
but, I love to drive ...
and, if I could travel that distance on $40 - it would be very difficult to keep me at home on weekends and during the holidays! :)

And, I love motorcyles! :)
- guess I take that back after my Dad?! :)
I loved riding tandem with him when I was younger!
- but, I think to sit on the "back seat" requires a lot of confidence in the one drivin' ?! :)
I bought the motorcyle I have now just a bit after I turned 50 ...
but, I'm gonna "down size" to a - "sissy bike" - as my brother would call it! :)
- do you think we women go through some sort of "mid-life crisis" too?! ...

We love to travel, too, BC. I think our hotel room in CT cost more than what we actually spent on gas getting to MA. Crazy!
What kind of motorcycle do you have now? Does it have a "sissy bar" on the back? What are you looking to get? You definitely have to trust the driver, but the driver also has to trust the passenger. I've been told by my biker friends that I'm a great passenger. :-)
When we first moved to MO and were vehicle-less, we talked about the husby getting a scooter until we could find a good car because it really does save on gas. It would be just a wee bit unsafe and cold in the winter, though.
