I thought my job was difficult! I tho't librarians just had to read everything and then just know it all!

Back in the day (1979-1981), I was an aide. My specialty was the periodical room and then later on as the Library Club prez, I got to read the new paperbacks to approve (or not) for the floor. I only found one that I blushed while reading, and then had to explain to Mrs. Hall why it should not be on the floor...(as I whispered...come closer...it had graphic words describing, um, err, well, uh...sex). My mother was appalled, my dad laughed and I learned too much for a preachers kid!!

I've missed ya'll, I've tried to keep up, but since the May flood, my little underwear store has had a booming business, by the way, how can I learn Spanish, German and Japanese overnight!!?? I have actually managed to sell out my back stockroom...never thought that would be possible. I've finally managed to hire and train some additional staff, and God bless my teachers, I've got to add 1 or 2 more because of school...

BC...stop by and see me sometime!! (I work till 6 W-F this week and till 9 Sat) I'd love to see photos of CA and tell me about the wines...someone I used to work with owns a wine/liquor store and he may be interested in carrying the 4 vines...although I'll gladly admit that I have no idea how that business works!! I usually use wine in recipes, but I tried a Barcelona white that was tasty (that is a compliment, from a non wine drinker).

I worked as a librarian during college at PCC. I gave tours of the Biblical manuscript room and helped on the 5th and 6th-top floor. I loved it!! The Bible room even had a Bible that was cooked into a loaf of bread in Russia. How neat to see!

Being as it was a college with HIGH standing for boy and girl separation, if you get my drift. You could not talk to boys in the library. BUT_____I could, because I worked there and just HAD TO help them find things. What a great perk!

I mean you could get demerits for touching a boys backpack to take something out. Indirect contact. HA!!!! But, after attending a secular college and public high school, I was ready for some rules. I didn't like the wild party atmosphere. I was there to work and seeing as I was paying every dime of my bill with my hard earned money....I wanted to study!.

The kids are two weeks into school now and loving being homeschooled again. We love our new history course and will be making stained glass windows out of colored vellum this Friday for art. Jed starts lessons in Chinese this week and the girls begin Piano, too. YEAH!

Oh, I nearly forgot---we have composition class every morning in which I give them a writing prompt, and then they have to finish it. This particular day the prompt was "No one but me knows....." What was to follow from Hannah was hysterically funny.

With great pride, she brought me her notebook and read the a composition about what boogers taste like. I guess no one but her knows what boogers taste like. YUK!!! Funny, but YUK!!! I know what class is coming next semester--hygenine.

whether they be "imitation" ...
or the "real things" ...

but, I've known a few kids in my day who probably would! :)
Guess it's just one of the "perks" ?! or "perils" ?! of being a school bus driver for over 20 years I guess?!
