Subject: Russian anti-terrorism measures

I was just reading in-depth about the recent terrorist situation in Russia, and the injuries resulting in the gas being pumped into the theatre......good God, what terrible cost to bring about an end to the stalemate. This has shaken me to the core - old men, women, younger people, all hurt by the gas used by the forces ostensibly trying to save them. Surely another measure could have been tried? Or a lesser concentration of gas? Something that did not result in casualties in triple figures?
