Subject: Clones, and Clowns....thoughts on the Raylians and Cloneaid.

Being that I was off yesterday I watched the John Walsh show, and his guests were a group of Raylians who were talking about this "Baby Eve" the first supposed Human Clone. Along with these guests were a woman and her daughter who wanted to make a gentic clone of her dead daughter.

Mind you I'm not against religion and if they wish to believe in aliens being God, hey more power to them then. But what is bothering me is this, if this Cloneaid did manage to bring about the first human clone what does this mean for us as a human population? For me I'm worrying about people like this woman Jamie and her family. Jamie's daughter Christine was murdered, she had three kids, and Christine's son David was the one who sugested that his grandmother have his mom cloned. Jamie said that her grandson understood that it wouldn't be his mom, but when he talked he acted like the "would be clone of Christine" would be his mother. What is bothering me about this situation is that if in fact Cloneaid were able to bring back Christine this wouldn't mean that "clone Christine" was Christine, but a twin of her that could have a very differnt personality. And, like all people, this "twin" of Christine might not want to be parent to Christine's kids. Also wouldn't it be very hard to explain to a child that she or he isn't their own person but a replica of one of their parents? If my parents told me that I think I would freak!
And what of other people who want to bring back loved ones from the dead? Is that really a good thing for them? We are taught that life has a ending, you get old and die, end of story, so if we can re create a person from the old DNA does that mean that people believe that their physical form will live forever? Kinda creepy having a second version of yourself runing around after you were considered dead, isn't it.

Lastly, with all the talk about being able to replicate a person will we be seeing a version of our own clone wars? Where men and women who are based on soilders go out and fight instead of the orignials. While it would be simpler to do this does that mean that these clones are less human then us, their supposed creators? And does that then make a scientest who created the clone that clones god?
