First of all, I'd like to say that in case you believe that a clone could be the same person in any way, think again! The only thing that would be the same as the doner would be the physical body (and then, depending on their course of life, maybe even not so - for example, what if the doner had had an injury or scar that never fully healed? That would never be present on a clone, unless self-inflicted, and even then it would never be down to the last proton or electron of an intity) It's a person's past that makes them who they are, and even if you're dead or believe in re-incarnation, the possiblility of the same intity (or soul, if you will) entering the same body, seems to be at very low odds. And in the case Dark Star mentioned, if you did clone a child's dead mother, how could it do the family any good? The cloned mother would be younger than the children, and think about how awkward that would be to turn 21 before your parents, huh? ;)

Another thing that greatly catches my attention and rather adds to my discomfort on the whole cloning subject is this: abnormalities and birth defects. I've been following these stories closely, and I got hold of a USA Today with a featured article about clones and the current situation, and as an example, I'd like to use a quote from them: "A cloned calf was born several years ago is shown on a respirator. The reason, says Lanza of Advanced Cell Technologies in Massachusetts, is that the cloned calves often have placentas three to four times the normal size. That causes heart problems that back fluid up into the lungs. The fear is that human clones would be born with similar complications." - Friend,USA Today Why put a child through a life of never being able to be physically fit for life, just for the name of science? I find that perhaps the Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy is correct, perhaps the white mice are watching us.....
