Addition at 8 in the morning, especially when you've been on vacation for a long time, can be a daunting challenge even to the most intelleget of people. ;)

Australia is one of the only countries in the world that has never attacked another nation. Even our involvement in Vietnam was for the defence of South Vietnam and to reinforce our American allies. Australians pride themselves on being a nation that will fight in wars, but has never started one. I fear that an involvement in a US-led pre-emptive assault on Iraq may tarnish a reputation that many Australians have been so proud of...

I did not know this, learn something knew every day. :)

Your comments on Howered also remind me that Canada hasn't committed to this war either, and that's saying something when our neighbor to the north has a problem with this. I've noticed that, since there hasn't been any "Smoking gun" there's been a lot of "foul" cries from different angencies here in the States. Just yesterday one offical commented that the Iraqi's are hiding their weapons in mosques(sp?), and in Saddam's palace. Now I am no expert on the Islamic religon, nor will I ever lay claim to be, but from what I know a Mosuqe is suppose to be a very sacred place and the hiding of weapons in such a place would be considered wrong wouldn't it?

What is really disheartening is that we have Rumsfeld not thinking before he speaks, and making it sound as if France and Germany are just little nothings to this issue. Lord knows we don't need either country to grow to dislike us if we do go into a war. Plus you have several different countries in the Middle East that obviously don't want any war because they could get hurt in the process, and have been asking Saddam to cooperate with the inspectors.

One of my Professors, who is a very big against any form of war, said during a class discussion that he thinks that one of the reasons why Bush is so keen on fighting Saddam is the fact that: 1) We have yet to Find Bin Ladin and stop him and Bush wants to prove that he can deal with a terrorist regardless if the world doesn't want to help us. 2) He wants to deal with Saddam so that he can clear up his families name, and make good for his father.
