In the FIFA World Rankings, Senegal is ranked #42 while France is ranked #1. The United States is ranked #13 and Portugal is ranked #5. You're a math person, you can figure it out. :-)

If we can beat Portugal, we should be able to beat the other two teams in our group: Poland (ranked #38) and South Korea (#40), though South Korea certainly has an advantage of home field. The reason for us Americans to get excited over the win against Portugal is that it's contrasted with our performance four years ago, where we stunk things up in France. It's good to see our team overachieve rather than underachieve this time.
