I couldn't watch the Group D matches, since I had job duties; it's just as well that I didn't watch.

I had heard early on that the U.S. was on its way to defeat; I didn't learn of South Korea's stunning victory over Portugal until much later.

Suffice to say, I'm happy. :D

Meanwhile, I won't miss Russia in the slightest, considering how their fans reacted to a loss to Japan. Belguim knocked out the Russians, while Japan, four years removed from a three-loss stinker in France, cruises to Round 2. (Both they and S. Korea finished group play with 7 out of a possible 9 points; guess there really is something to home-field advantage!)
