Subject: What goes around ...
In reply to: Perceptor II 's message, "Not a good day for World Cup teams from English speaking countries." on 20:04:44 06/21/02 Fri

... comes around.

Indeed, the U.S. was snake-bitten by the same non-call that deflated Mexico just one game prior. Yet, I didn't hear bickering and arguing about how 'horrific' the officiating was.

Makes me proud to be an American, to be honest. Any Italians here wish to rebut?

As for Brazil-England, I only saw one highlight ... but what a highlight! I forget who it was who kicked the goal over a wall of defenders AND the goalie, yet BELOW the crossbar of the goal, but that was the single-most spectacular goal I have even see in my life!

(No, I don't watch that much 'futbol'. Still, I was very much impressed with the arc on that ball.)

Germany & Brazil are in, and both should be favored in their next match; the Germans get either Spain or South Korea, while the Brazilian draw the winner of the Cinderella match: Senegal-Turkey. (Actually, it'd be a tossup as to who's favored if Spain advances; the Koreans would almost certainly be an underdog.)

Now I need to figure out who to root for. I guess the Koreans. We'll see.
