Although the press has portrayed this whole thing as a very American affair, and to an extent, it is -- the attacks happened on US soil and the majority of victims were Americans, but for me, I still remember the Australian victims of September 11 -- one of whom was related to a colleague of mine at the time.

Let us never forget that this was not just an attack on America or the American people -- it was an attack on humanity. We should remember all the innocent victims, American, Australian or otherwise.

Also, I don't agree with calling it something like "Twin Towers Day" -- because not only were lives lost at the Pentagon, but more importantly, innocent lives were heroically sacrificed on Flight 93 with the immortal words "Let's Roll!" (which is oh-so befitting among Transfans).

The people who died in the Pentagon haven't received as much sympathy -- after all, they were the hub of the American military who have created much international angst (I'm not justifying the attack on the Pentagon -- merely stating a reason why a lot of people don't tend to grieve for it -- most of the grief is focussed on New York) -- however, the people of the WTC were innocent victims. In contrast, the passengers of Flight 93 were heroes who WILLINGLY gave their lives to prevent the deaths of more people by thwarting their hijackers and at the same time, giving their own lives.
