Subject: A somber thought....

Last year: I actually slept though part of the first attack, I honestly believed at first that this was an accident. That a low flying plane (one of those small prop kind) had ACCIDENTLY hit into the first Twin tower. Then I learned the truth, and I swear to god my heart fell to my feet, along with my stomache.

Then I saw the second plane hit, and thought, "Ohmygod!" What the heck is going on here? Why the heck did these two planes hit the towers? What was the reason for it? And when I learned about the hijackers...well it all made me ill.

And here's the funny thing, thought it all, all the horror, all the greif, I actually thought the towers would stand. I honestly believed that there was a chance that they would make it. At school classes were closed and everyone had their eyes glued to the tvs. And that's when we saw the two towers come down...and...*sigh* I just lost it. I know I was crying, I know that I felt sick, and angery. And I also suddenly knew what it must have been like for all the people at Pearl Harbor, and at the Murra building, and countless other places where dispicable acts happened.

I remember going home, worrying sick about my dad and my mom, and the fact that there was another plane missing. And my thought was. "God, why is this happening? Why now, why here?"

One year later:

I've become more rational on my thoughts, and more worried about the treatment of others after the attacks. I think I've become closer to my family, to my friends, and finally decided what I want to do with my life.

I think what really brought it home for me was the words that a bunch of comic writers wrote in the latest wizard. Oddly enough these are the men and women who have to write stories about hero's every day. Those with amazing powers, who can do just about anything. Phil Jimenez said it best, he explained how he and a number of other people were on the ferry docks that day, and how this one women just collapsed when she saw the towers come down. And how everyone tried to help her, even though they were all frantic. Then there's the Wizard Editor who's brother was a Paramedic who was killed in the line of duty.

Funny thing is, the day before, my dad and I went to the libarey to pick up some books, and one of the books that I picked was Batman: No Man's Land. In the story Gothem was attacked by a giant earthquake, and it takes the might of the city, with a lot of heart to fix her and re-enstate her into the USA. The story reminded me of how New York came together on that day to try and save as many lives as possible. Men and women who didn't wear capes, who just did what they thought was right.

There was a women, one of the widows, on the Today show that said, "There is an abundance of Angels now." I Know she's right. :*)
