You know, as a long-time Star Trek fan I thought I had really seen it all when it comes to the franchise-owning company really sticking it to the fans. Then my lifetime interest in Transformers awakens, and I break new ground. I am not a stupid man. I am not one of those people who would egg the VP of Hasbro's house for making Beast Machines. However, enough is enough, for goodness' sake. Hasbro is a business - in it to make money. It would seem that a logical part of the plan to make money would be to SELL THE PRODUCT IN AS MANY PLACES AS YOU CAN and not limit it to one section of the planet. The men and women in Hasbro are not stupid - they have to know that this will lead to scalping, gouging and profiteering of the highest order on places like eBay.

At the risk of sounding melodramatic - living in the UK, which is woefully undersupported in the modern TF market (they are still selling wave 1 RiD over here!) it almost seems like we are being discouraged from buying Transformers. I wouldn't mind, as I said in my previous post, if they gave it their all, tried, and no-one bought them so they withdrew the line. It's this half-arsed not trying that grates with me. A line from the West Wing springs to mind (I may not have this exactly right): "It's not the battles we lose that annoy me, Leo, it's the ones we don't even suit up for." That is how I feel about Hasbro at the moment, especially their UK marketing arm.

Blaaah.
