I don't presume to get into the ethics of the situation here, but it strikes me that with all the unwanted pets and pets being mistreated, there is already enough of a surplus without cloning pets to fill in the gaps. For example a friend of mine will only get new cats from an organization that looks after cats that were previously abused.

As for the cyborg thing, if it enhances the quality of life then I would be willing to at least look into it. Blind people could be given "eyes" to see. Using technology to bypass damaged nerves could give people in wheelchairs the ability to walk. There would be issues involved (system security, for one - with every expansion of technology the expansion of the misuse of technology follows shortly after) but it would be interesting.
