Disappointment is heavily dependant on expectations.

Clearly your disappointment in Thunderwing came from the fact that you got the toy AFTER you read the comic. Simon Furman was a wonderful talent of making very cool characters out of some of the lamest Transformer toys -- which, from a marketing perspective, is very cool. How else could you sell such a bad toy unless you made him an extremely cool character?

Expect even more disappointment if you ever get Bludgeon. :p

Personally, I didn't feel that level of disappointment, because I usually got the toys before they appear in the comic or TV show. Though I will certainly admit that after reading the comic or seeing the show, makes the character so much more cooler.
