Subject: This article raises a good point, but.....

The author of it just lost any respect I had for him when I came to this line at the end:

"If you live in the United States, please contact your local congressman and state senator. If you're outside the U.S., first put down your Anti-USA picket sign and then contact your elected official or tribal warlord."

(emphasis mine)

It was a good article. It raised a valid point. It points out that people may well be following who we communicate with, what we look at and how we act online quite independent of any rules or guiding principles. All well and good.

Then that statement. What a petty, childish, nasty little piece of invective to inject into what should have been a reasoned piece of writing. At that point the little "what I think" indicator in my brain that deals with the author of that report went from "Man with a good point" to "arsehole" in less time than it takes for Goktimus' blood pressure to rise at the sight of a non-metric unit of measurement.

I mean, what the hell does this guy think people outside the US do for government? Bang drums, hunt wild animals and look to the moon for guidance?

:-)

FD
