Subject: My thoughts on those episodes:

Fire on the Mountain: ah yes, the 2nd episode with Skyfire.

Personally, this was not a favorite of mine by any means. Sure, you get to watch Starscream and Thundercracker perform their own 'Spy vs Spy' act (hearing TC refer to SS as 'geeky' is probably the best part of the ep), but I thought this was not the way to bring back Skyfire. Too quick; two Autobots dig him out in all of 15 seconds of airtime. Well, at least Windcharger makes an appearance! Bumblebee's bashful look at the end (You'd have to see it for yourself.) is ... weird. (FYI: BB appears in more than a few early eps!)

War of the Dinobots: another 'second coming'; this time, the 2nd episode with the Dinobots.

This one I like more than 'Mountain'; it has a decent story from beginning to end, with better-than average writing. (Quick synopsis: the three 'original' DBs are duped into serving Megatron when a meteorite crashes to Earth; meanwhile, Swoop and Snarl are created. There's a 'civil war' of sorts between the fivesome, but OP saves the day (again) and earns the respect of the DBs.)

Ultimate Doom: yet another 'second': the 2nd trilogy of G1, and last major 'multi-ep' before the movie.

This trilogy was pretty good, though it pales in comparison to many single-shot eps IMHO. The plot was a bit far-fetched; bring Cybertron into our atmosphere. (No offense to RedStreak, whose Fic series did the exact same thing.) Worse yet, the Dinobots have little more than a cameo appearance; not even any speaking roles. At least Skyfire has a decent role, though his personality was never really developed after 'Fire in the Sky'; there's a reason he seldom appeared after this trilogy!

Dr. Archevil (pronounced ARK-uh-vill) is probably the best human villain the show had, but I would've liked to have seen more of him after the trilogy; he makes one final appearance, and then disappears.

Overall ... I give the boxset a C+ at best; none of these eps make my Top Ten. (When I feel like it, I'll give a list of personal faves.)

Anyone have any further comments or questions? Believe me, I know pre-movie G1: I got every ep on tape!
