Subject: Syracuse

We have moved to Syr after 16 years in a Bflo suburb. The changes are enormous. Our home is fewer than five mins. from the house I lived in for 23 yrs and about seven mins. from where I grew up. while some things are familiar, much is not. The traffic is stunning. The number of stores and restaurants are amazing and the turnover of businesses is huge. I will figure it out in time but I am truly astounded. Those who left shortly after graduation may just as well be in Butte, Montana or Shelby, NC for all that has transpired.

Because of my work in education, therapy and PR, I had a hard time going anywhere without being recognized. I have been home for three mos. and have yet to run into a single soul whom I know. I realize that in 16 yrs, i would not know anyone under thirty yrs old and many whom I knew back in the day are now pushing up daisies or unrecognizable. Perhaps I, too, may have changed a bit from my 50s to my 70s.

Whatever changes have occured, I am so very, very happy to be home!
But I would not suggest that it is easy to move at 75...nor is it easy to put what filled a 3000 sq. ft. house into one that is 1684 sq.ft. Living in a museum (we are avid art/sculpture collectors) has drawbacks!!!
