Saddam's clear connection with Al Qaeda, by Bill Safire

Hi everyone,

Bill Safire writes in the NY Times that there is a clear connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda.

He cites sources as being Kurdish. He further claims that one of bin Laden's top luietenants, Abu Musaab al-Zarqawi, was treated in Baghdad for an injury to his leg and then sent north to work with other Al Qaeda operatives in Kurdish conrolled Iraq. One of his projects was to develop poisons for export. He also is suspected of the murder of US diplomat Laurence Foley in Amman, Jordan.

My own feeling is that if Bill Safire can discover this information and feels strongly enough to publish it in the NY Times, what does the President know? Will he reveal it in his State of Union address? Does he need to? What do you think?
