That's really just the attitude that Gok and I both take some issue with. I read your post before he deleted it. I think I even replied to it. But for you to decide that the only "Real" collector is some specific thing and try to push the view on other people as if it is self-evident then you need to check yourself (before you wreck yourself =).

The center of my point is a lot like what you said: I will take ultimate responsibility for whether I like my collection and whether I can look at myself in the mirror after customizing a toy. I'm not sorry if I take a knockoff or a real Transformer and paint it. I may be sorry if it looks dumb, but I'm not sorry that I carefully made my own Shuta and Minerva out of some pieces from knockoffs and some pieces from Siren and some paint. I don't claim that they are Takara-made. I'm not sorry that I didn't pay a grand apiece for them. Boxed people: I'm not sorry that nearly all my Transformers are open. Campaign people: I'm not sorry that I am careful with my Transformers and display them neatly back in their packaging. If you want to tell me that I am not a "real" collector, I'm going to laugh in your face and say, "How the heck did I get so many hundreds of these things without doing some collecting?" And what else could "collector" really mean other than a person who collects something?

So everybody take your rules and set them down where they belong: On your OWN collection.
