Hello Melissa.
I believe this must be your people. They lived at the farm Grønstad, at least Lina and her boy. The parents are not married yet. She's got a wrong name (Lina Monsdatter), but otherwise it fits with her age and birthplace, and she is still not married. I haven't checked the original 1865 census if it says the same, or someone has made a mistake.
You find Lina here:http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=arkivverket/ft1865/f60417.wc2&variabel=0&postnr=3249&fulle=true&spraak=n
I found Christian here still living with his parents Anders and Anne at Rødningen (Rønningen). He was not from Lahlum (Lalum), probably just having his work there when August Julius was born. As you see Christian lived with a sister and brother too. His brother was a mute person. You find them here at this adress in the 1865 census :http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=arkivverket/ft1865/f60417.wc2&variabel=0&postnr=4455&fulle=true&spraak=n
Eie means that they lived on a place owned by other people. They used a small part of a bigger farm, and had to work on the farm to pay for using this. The most of these people were very poor. That's the most common reason going to another country, get away from all this poorness.
Hope you got a little bit more wise.
The Lalum farm still exists.
At the moment I can't tell you if there were more siblings of August, but I can perhaps help you later.
Good luck !
Pål
