Your perfect child, except we are all imperfect (just differently) is still the gift from God that you remember when she was born.

I'm a 57 year old child of my mother who is ADD/Dyslexic. And despite my so-called disabilities, I've been successful, have a high IQ 162, and what it took was me realizing what others said about me - that I was bright.

You know in my day I really didn't believe anyone who said I was smart. If I was so smart - why was it I couldn't readily recall names, and memorize spellings? My peers considered me smart, a bit different, yes, but intelligent.

I didn't have a name to call what my gifts and talents were and were not. There are things I don't do very well, but I'm very creative and not kept in a box - my thoughts and perspectives are valued greatly by those whom are linear thinkers - such as lawyers. I help them with creative ideas.

Don't dispair about your child's learning impediments, there is so much more that can be done to work around the problems than when I was growing up. Rejoice in the different gift's your child was given by God.

Will there be pain and suffering from these gifts? Certainly, none of us gets through life untinged by it. And why should we be any different than the one who gives us eternal life? Enjoy your blessed child, with love and attention her gifts will bless our world.
