Cowboy-

I know what you are feeling IS very normal. I, too, fight myself everyday to focus on the GIFT that God has bestowed on my son for some reason. Like you, I do not know what it is like to have dyslexia so I cannot fully comprehend what it means for my child. I just see the struggles he will have. But unlike you, I have a spouse who is dyslexic. I cannot see all the issues that I know were struggles for him in his early years. I only see that he is extremely bright (as most are) and very successful in his medical career. He always says that his elementary years were the worst for him when the focus was on all the things he was poor at. Where he began to shine was in late middle school when teachers cared less about following the steps to the answer and more about big picture thinking and getting a correct answer however that may be. My advice to you would be to pray to see this as a gift and that you find her area of giftedness (as she will have one). Maybe it will be athletics, art, music, building, or whatever and support her in that area. Because although she may struggle in the early years, she will thrive in the later years if she is loved and supported and directed towards her gift. Lastly, I would read about dyslexia and what areas she will need help in. God bless!
