Dawn, they are trying to throw you off the scent and be done with you. Educate yourself on your child's disability, the exact problems she has: (is it reading fluency, reading comprehension, written expression.....), the law and the way schools work (make their determination) and THEN go back to them armed with that information. Ask to see a copy of their "determination of eligibility" form. This will tell you what they DO recognize. Your daughter will likely fall under one or more of the criteria headings. They are banking on parents not being informed. That is how this huge societal problem is perpetuated and continues to this day.
