Hi,

I don't know what state you are in but you and your child have many rights. You have the right to a qualified teacher for your child. Their is an advocacy group in NJ called SPAN of NJ. You may be able to find information from them and ask them for a pamphlet on basic rights in special education. It sounds like you are not getting the support from the district you need. Your child has the right to be educated in the least restrictive environment. Does your district have in class support, reading specialists, resource rooms, occupational therapists? Children with a diagnosis of dyslexia could have a 504 plan or IEP depending on the type of supports/instruction your child needs. Your case manager should be able to explain this to you but ofter they do not. Document everything. Our district will often pay for out of district "private" school placements when they are not able to provide the children with an appropriate education. Let me know if this was helpful or you have more specific questions.
