My daughter is in 8th grade and is not doing well either and I have known since 2nd grade she is dsylexic. I am constantly writing letters to the guidance counselor and teachers(no special ed at our school).

Here is what I have done and I am trying.

I reteach whatever she doesn't get, especially math. I read textbooks to her. Scribe when she is too tired. Write out two column study notes with her for tests. sometimes we spend 4 hours doing homework at night. I am trying to get teachers to tell me the homework and when tests are coming up so I can help her, but she still forgets her homework and or books. She forgets to turn them in. I don't care about her grades they don't reflect her learning. If I know she is working hard and trying and I can see she is learning then the grade isn't important at all. I don't take away things she likes to do like sports and going to youth group as she needs outlets and things and places where she can build her self esteem.

The psychologist who tested her told me the my job would be to be her advocate with the schools and she was so right!
