Hiya!

Mind maps are a way of recording information visually. They are colourful, imaginative and have pictures as well as words which you create with your child. This helps improve learning as you are using both the sides of the brain.

Basically you start off with a central image for the topic you want to learn.
You then have large branches coming off the main image which are the main headings from the topic, then smaller branches off them with the relevant information on and drawings!
Each branch must be a different colour

So for example, if Henry 8th was the your topic, he would be the title in the middle of the page, perhaps with a drawing of him!
A red large branch would be entitled 'the queens' with the smaller branches (also in red) naming them and what happened to them....also with pictures!
Another branch (in blue) could be named 'religion' and then the smaller branches with protestant and catholic on etc

Hope this helps!!

Gen
