Well done to you for getting yourself informed by taking the course. I am a primary teacher with numerous members of my family showing dyslexic signs. When my son told me at 5 he 'wanted to be smart but he wasn 't smart" bells rang. I started him with a a tutor who taught an intensive phonic programme especially effective for dyslexics. I had him tested formally at 6 and he showed all the dyslexic profile. The phonic programme really WORKS as as it is multi sensory and has to be repeated several times a week to allow overlearning thereby creating the links in the brain that are lacking. My son is now 10 he is in the top reading and science groups in his [competative!!] class and although his spelling is a erratic he has learnt to deal with his dyslexia and not let it impede his confidence in any way. Early intervention and the correct programme are the key and your boy has been picked up early thankfully. Also work on what he is good at like art or sports - keeping the self esteem high is half the battle. Good luck. RR
