Hi Roziana,

I think it's wonderful that you've devoted the extra time to the child that needed the most attention. So often they are just disciplined for misbehaving or failing to complete work instead.

I've spent years now trying to sort out what's going on with these children and more and more I think that dyslexic children, those with ADHD, and those with Asperger's or autism are all suffering from variations of the same issue, that being a delay in normal development across several fronts.

With dyslexic children particularly, I think delays occur in the development of their visual skills, and eventually realized that before many of these children could learn to read easily, they needed the vision skills issues addressed first.

Then Dr. John Cannell of the VitaminDCouncil.org published his paper on Vitamin D3 and Autism and it occurred to me that perhaps a general deficiency of vitamin D3 in our populations (especially since the sun-avoidance advice from the medical community became common in 1989, for that's where we get the bulk of our D3) might underlie all of these ailments and many more.

I recently changed the emphasis somewhat on my website at OnTrack Reading to reflect this, and I would encourage you to read The Diet Piece of the Dyslexia Puzzle when you get the time.

I'd also be curious to know what you think of this, especially since you indicate that some of your own children showed dyslexic symptoms. If they're now older, and still struggling with reading, you might also find the vision information on my site interesting.
