I do not know about a young child, but as an adult with dyslexia I read four additional languages -- Old English, Old Norse, Latin and German. The key is not being afraid to use a dictionary and most foreign languages follow a pronunciation system that is easier than English -- once you can resite the continental alphabet in phonetic sounds there are only minor changes. It is learning the vocab that can be tricky. My son who is also dyslexic is learning Latin in high school.
