My best advice is celebrate all achievements and don't let reading become the only thing you ever talk about. Sure, it's real important but so are other things too.
I guess that's not a real practical tip, so I'd also like to pass on an amazing link I got from another parent when my son was younger and having a bunch of problems. It's a fantastic English publishing house for dyslexic kids. The books are in UK English spelling (like, organise not organize) so you might need to help with that but they are printed on special paper with special type and are so short and easy to read. The best bit is they're not patronizing - they are just like the books my sons friends were reading, only easier. They just made such a difference to him - we bought them online from the UK, I don't remember what the shipping cost but it wasn't a lot. They also have a scheme where kids can be what they call 'consultants' and comment on the manuscripts before the books are published. Their names get put in the book.
