I can understand your daughter’s frustration being a dyslexic 8th grade student. The simple reason is that the school system has this unrelenting need to make sure that all students are well-rounded individuals.

Dyslexic’s are not academic generalists; we are academic specialists that do extremely well in a narrow area of academics. Until we all understand this, and start working with ower strengths to overcome ower weakness, frustration for all parties will continue.

As for your daughter, being just mouths from starting high school, it is simply too late to use traditional teaching methods in order to catch up with her general education peers.
