It is nice to hear that your son is doing much better in school. May I suggest that you ask him what subjects he really enjoys the most, what he is good at? Once you know this, for example Art, take your son down to the local library and have him start reading any book on art that he wants, and have him start writing a paper on the book.

You will find that overtime your son will do extremely well in a narrow academic area. Building up a special knowledge base in this area, as well as reading and writing in this area, will be extremely helpful for you son when he goes to college.
