I went through a battle with my son too. I was told they didn't have experts, couldn't get tested by school board etc... but I would not take no for an answer. I had all kinds of testing done for other things that came back normal but he still struggled and I knew what it was. I was lucky to acccidently find someone who knew what to do so Eventually had the WISC IV, IQ test. The result was that there were differences enough in certain aspects that it was indicative of a learning disability so the school needed to test him, which they promptly said they would do when I showed this to them.

It is very important to also make sure his hearing, vision, and speech are tested first just in case as they may want to make sure it isn't any of those. It wasn't cheap but worth every penny.

Now the battle begins to get the help once he has been tested through the school as where I am there is very litttle funding and no one on one help unless the child is autistic or severaly handicapped in one way or another.

Hope you get where you need to go. I went through the same confusion and it amazes me how little info is out there through school boards on this. My son has a wonderful GP and her child is struggling in school and she says even she is having such a tough time just trying to get it sorted out and she is in the field!
