You're right. If it quacks like a duck, treat it like a duck. Sensible methods for teaching dyslexics don't harm a child who is not dyslexic. In fact, a late bloomer will make rapid progress with these methods--once he or she is mature enough to profit from them. I don't know how a school can not "believe" in dyslexia. Do they have no children whose reading vocabulary and ability to sound out words is below what one would expect from their intelligence?
