Thank you for your comments Dr. Nordstrom – the political issues are extremely important, and I could not agree with you more. I might also add that Medicare does not consider chiropractors “physicians” I feel the political issue here is separate from the point I was trying to make. What my question revolves around is the amount of time and energy that a chiropractor will spend trying to get paid from Medicare, and that in most practices; this portion of the practice is relatively small. One thing I stress in my seminars and with offices that I consult with is that you do not want to spend $10 to make $5. I find that most offices spend so much money on Medicare that they are actually loosing money. Now, let me balance that out – there is a principle issue, and this is separate form money. I will peruse collection of money solely for the principal and lose money in doing so. If an office is filing an Appeal to Medicare based on ethics and principle of the issue – this is (in my opinion) the correct reason. However, if a practice is doing it just to get paid, this is the wrong reason, and does not make good business sense, as the office will end up spending more money then they will get in return. So it comes down to our intent. Thank you! - John
