Hi! I am taking Effexor for more than two years now. I suffered from depression when I lost my first baby. I was pregnant and vomitting and nauseous for the whole nine months. Just a week before my due date, my baby died inside my tummy. The doctors said the placenta just stop working and there is nothing I did that could avoid that. I suffered from depression and attemted suicide several times. My behavior caused problems with my husband, co-workers and friends. I was given Effexor (70 mg) to treat my depression but the side effects are very hard to tolerate. For more than two years I went on 70 mg. to 37.5 to 70 again. I got pregnant while taking the medicine. I was worried but the baby came out fine. He is turning 1 year old in three weeks.

The doctors usually say anti-depressant is okay on pregnant women based on the study. They measure the benefits against the risks. All I can say to you is- doctors base their treatment on studies, experience and research. You know your body more than them. If you feel something wrong and they still say everything is fine, get second opinion. I just heard from the news two weeks ago that anti-depressants cause problems to children and still looking for that article when I saw your message.

Anyway, take care and congratulations to you. May you have a healthy baby.

Lilibeth
