No way Gem....narciscism is the direct opposite of depression I believe. Narcissists are "all about me" in every sense of the word. They live their lives in a selfish, uncaring way. They let people into their lives only if it benefits them in someway. They lack the capacity to have feelings, or care about the feelings of others.
In no way are they introspective enough to be aware of their own depression, etc. Thats not to say that they don't get depressed, they probably do...but they handle it differently.

Depressed people are the direct opposite. They care about everything....others feelings, the state of the world, and their own emotions. Yes at times they are self centered, but it is a defense mechanism more than anything. Depressed people feel everything...good and bad. When those emotions get to be too much, we retreat into ourselves to protect ourselves. We are not self centered to gain things from others like the narcissists, we are doing it for survival. There is a huge difference there.

I know a narcissist, and I know many depressed people. It is like comparing apples and oranges. Anyway, that is how I see it...I hope it helps.

Love, Mikki
