Definitely not. Depressed people care way too much about everyone else, sometimes to the exclusion of their own feelings or well being. It's that caring too much that adds to and sometimes causes a lot of their emotional pain.

On the other hand, I do think that after so much hurt in one's life and so many disappointments they can learn to maintain a distance from most people and build up a wall around themselves so that they won't care as much as they would have before. But that's only for self-preservation, to keep from being hurt again.
