You'll be here to get in on these...

September 3 Labor Day Rest Fest "held at Riverview Park in North Augusta (about 12 miles from here). The festival has plenty of games and treats for children in a great family atmosphere."...well Matt's 13 but I'm sure there's something for everyone.

September 7 & 8 "Aiken's Makin fills the parkways of downtown Aiken with wonderful crafts, food and family entertainment."

September 29 "Horse Creek Valley Sassafras Festival in Gloverville Park of Hwy. 421. Great entertainment, handmade crafts, food and children's rides are all here! The evening welcomes dancing in the street." ....feel like doing some dancing?

In October there's 4th Annual Market Day, another Sassifras Festival, St. Mary's Chocolate Festival, Colonial Times: 1735-1785 A Day to Remember, Aiken Jaycees County Fair, Sweet Potato Festival, Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee, Halloween Park Horror, Halloween Carnival.

November brings a Quiltters Show, Turkey Trot, Carolighting & Tree Ceremony, Holly Day in Aiken, Salley Chitlin Strut (don't know about you but I'm not eating those but might enjoy the crafts and carnival stuff).

December.. The Angel Tree, Carols in the Park, Holly Day Concert Series, Sports Memorabilia Show, Christmas in Hopelands. (Hopelands is a gorgeous garden here in Aiken)

Not much going on in January.

February...Antiques in the Heart of Aiken, Sherman's March Reenactment/Battle of Aiken (this I want to see, it was the last win for the confederate side and they say the reenactment is great).

March... Augusta/Aiken County Spring Regatta (high school and collegiate rowers from across the country compete annually at Langley Pond), Aiken Triple Crown (Trials, Steeplechase and Harness Races at three tracks in the Horse District of Aiken)

Every month has something going on. In May there are the Lobster Races. This I gotta see. How do you get Lobsters to race??? We'll have to find out. I'm not exactly sure when the polo matches are but we'll have to check that out too.

As you can see, it seems there's a festival for just about everything. I've never seen so many craft shows, festivals, carnivals, etc. Now we'll just have to force our butts out the door to check it out.

I'm home from work today...still sick but feeling a little better. Would have had Friday off but now I'll have to work...oh well. Next Monday is Labor Day so I'm off for a long weekend anyway.

Sometime soon I need to go to NC to see my family...especially my new niece, Nicole. She's almost 4 months old. The other morning my sister-in-law, Cathie called and said Nicole wanted to squeal good morning to me. Seems she's learned to squeal and is so proud of herself that she does it non-stop. She isn't fussing but it sounds similar and is driving my little brother nuts. Cathie thought is was cute...so did Scott and I :)

My other niece, Jennifer, who is 18, just got an engagement ring and is getting married on November 3rd. I can't believe it. She's so young. Her brother Jason just turned 16 and is driving. Sherry (my sister) is sad because she wasn't planning on her daughter getting married and moving out just yet. Where does the time go? Jennifer is a beautiful girl. She'll make a gorgeous bride. I'll have to get pictures to show everyone.

Well...gotta go.

Love,
Sandy
