Hi again Hurricane! I see you're in a predicament with your husband. I agree with you--if he refuses to see your therapist, have her write him a letter. Your depression is NOT like schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Also, the meds are very different. You will NOT be in the state that people who take anti-psychotics are--they are major tranquilizers. I don't know about meds for ADD, but I do know that todays' meds for depression aren't like they used to be and do not cause the effects that other drugs can. Your husband needs to hear these things, but if he doesn't agree with your diagnosis, I wonder if he'll listen to what your therapist says about anything. Tell him how necessary this is for your recovery. Tell him you need him to try and understand this, and that won't take place til he learns more. He likely is afraid because of his past, but again, depression is a totally different experience than what he was exposed to in his family. If he accepts and realizes this, maybe the fear will abate.
