Damn, Cliff. How could you do this now? I can intervene with Oliver if I have to, but this is going to cost me - cost all of us - some serious credibility.
It would be best if the news never got to Oliver. Who saw you do it? I haven't heard anything from Slant - don't even know where he is these days. I'd like to keep a damn close lid on it if we can. I don't know if that's possible.
There's no way I can make it a Brujah matter, but I can run interference for you to some extent, if this ever actually gets brought up with Oliver.
If it does come up, though, you're going to need three things for me to save your ass.
One: a damn good reason for why it happened. Self-defense might cut it, but you'd better be sure you've got some evidence on your side and a consistent story.
Two: the support of at least half the Primogen, tacit or explicit. You've got me, even though this is going to screw us. You could try Anastasia - I know she, well, deals with the Primogenship the same way the Nosferatu deal with everything. Chinta's probably a lost cause; the little bastard'll be glad to see one of our clan get it for a change. I don't know much about Melanie or Friedrich, and it's anybody's guess what the Tremere will do. Fucking spooks.
Three: a suggestion for a punishment other than death that you think would be acceptable and appropriate. He won't necessarily accept it, but it'll look good that you tried.
Don't run. If you run, he'll have to hunt you down and kill you, and no political excuses I can make are gonna help.
Fuck. Well, I guess we're just gonna have to deal with this as best we can ... but you had better keep your nose clean from here on in. You got me?
