. . . and on tonight's news, a special update on the gangland-style executions afflicting the city.

In the last two weeks, twenty-nine men have met their end with a single bullet to the back of the head - a style of murder dating back to the Mafia heyday of the thirties and the vicious rule of Albert "The Mad Hatter" Anastasia.

While Anastasia's Murder, Inc. executed more than five hundred cold-blooded assassinations, though, this new crime spree seems to be directed against ordinary citizens. None of the victims thus far have been proven to have any Mafia connections. In fact, the only common link between the victims is a bizarre one: all twenty-nine have been named John Chambers.

Among the dead are John W. Chambers, a divorce lawyer; John J. Chambers Jr., a retail clerk; John S. Chambers, a construction worker; John A. Chambers, a deli owner; and many others. Eleven men named John Chambers have sought police protection in the past five days, as the death toll has mounted nearly into the thirties.

Could this city be facing a new serial killer? Or has the Mad Hatter's Murder, Inc. come mysteriously back to life?

In related news, see our special at eleven, Mafia Millions. Ever since Albert Anastasia's murder in 1957, scholars and enthusiasts have debated the location of his ill-gotten gains, worth millions of dollars today, which were never recovered. Could you be the one to find the loot?

In sports today . . .
