Hmmm, that is a very interesting theory, as well. The meanings you assign to the symbols are accurate, but some of your interpretations of how these relate to the traditions seem a bit stretched. I would also consider your reading of the windows to be quite broad.
Your idea does have the tidiness of having six symbols, six windows, and six traditions, however, and this is not insignificant. I would agree that my theory has many unresolved questions.
First of all, it is my understanding that Camarilla is older than the Sabbat, but did, at one point, have a beginning. The fact that the Gangrel left demonstrates the membership in the Camarilla is fluid. Does anyone know how many clans were in the Camarilla when it was founded? After all, although the two party system in America has been manifested in the Republican and Democratic parties for most of the countries history, it certainly didn't start that way, and many incarnations of the two party dynamic existed in the first few decades.
Could it be that the Camarilla has a similar history? Simply assuming that the Camarilla had the same seven clans at the time the symbol was created would be like assuming that Reps and Dems were the first two political parties simply because they have been for as long as anyone can remember.
This consideration does, of course, pass some doubt on my assignments of the clans to symbols, since I used today's membership as the basis of my theory.
I'm not a scientist, but I know enough about scientific methodology to realize that we both have forged a theory based on some of the evidence, and in a desire to prove ourselves correct, allowed our prejudices to influence our interpretations of the remaining ambiguities. While this might be the best we can hope for in a topic which lies beyond experimentation, it is not optimal.
I would very much like to hear Daisy's opinion on this discussion, since she's a trained archeologist, and most archeologists dabble in anthropology as well. Perhaps she would be able to bring some rigor to our amateur investigations.
I greatly appreciated and enjoyed reading your thoughts on this, and I look forward to future correspences.
