The infamous ornery stallion gallops into the frosted square, ears flattened menacingly, a thin film of sweat coating his bright copper chestnut hair. Dylon struggles with the reins as Tempest champs at the bit, finally hauling one rein around, slewing the stallion in a circle, a sheet of snow spraying from Tempest's hoofs. The horse pitches underneath him but Dylon manages to stay on.
When Tempest is somewhat calm, the man slides from his back and leans into the horse's neck. Steam rises from horse and man like smoke, clear in the frigid air. Distractedly Dylon strokes the stallion's neck. "Why did I do that?" he murmurs to the horse. Rowan... "How could I do such a thing to my daughter? I don't deserve to be her father..." he wipes away the warm tear trickling from one eye. "Maybe the world would be better off without me. I get drunk far too often, hurt Rowan far too often..." more tears fall. He looks up at the clouded sky. His eyes are haunted. "But how could I do such a thing to Rowan..."
